The bevel gearbox is a system designed to transmit a rotary motion of power to axes perpendicular to each other.

Let’s see the main features of R cubic bevel gearboxes:

• Cubic shape for universal, interchangeable mounting on any machine
• Available in eight sizes (54-86-110-134-166-200-250-350)
• They stand out for the lightness of the crankcase, which for the first seven sizes – except for the 350 which is made of cast iron – are made of aluminum alloy
• Gleason bevel gears, in Nikel-Chrome steel, which ensure maximum exhaust capacity; To ensure long life, they are surface treated with case-hardening.
• Five ratios of reduction or multiplies. 1:1 – 1:1,5 – 1:2 – 1:3 – 1:4
• carbon steel shafts at 80Kg/mmc
• three standard types of grips: male shafts, cavities with traction by tongue or grooved profile of type UNI 8953 or dragging by means of shrink discs
• Male shafts ground to H7 tolerance and drilled shafts for tongues or shrink fit ground to H7 tolerance
• tapered roller bearings – except for size 54 which is fitted with deep-groove ball bearings
• sealing rings in nitrile compound, on request in Viton, Silicone, Teflon and more
• oil lubrication. Size 54 is lubricated with permanent synthetic grease

SIZING OF THE BEVEL GEARBOX

The type of angular gearbox is identified according to the handling needs to be met. It is important to already have an idea of the system diagram in order to correctly identify the power flows.

First of all, it is essential to identify power, number of revolutions, torques to be transmitted, torque and, PTO, choosing between male shafts, hollow shafts with tongue, UNI 8953 splined profile or DIN mouse, shrink discs or hexagonal cavities…

It is also very important to take into account the heavy use of the bevel gearbox. And in particular, pay attention to:

• Determination of the Fs service factor
• operating cycle that can be constant or intermittent
• Recommended maximum and minimum operating temperatures from -20° to +80°
• Verification of radial loads and axial loads for each individual shaft
• Assessment of the environment (dusty or other conditions)
